Updating bank statement descriptions for payments

To provide customers with a clearer explanation of myTrip transactions on their bank statements we have updated the statement descriptor that is set when a ticket is purchased. The statement descriptor is used to explain charges found on bank statements, although some banks may display statement descriptors differently or not at all.

We are including additional information to make it easier for customers to understand their transactions on myTrip in an effort to reduce the number of disputes or chargebacks.

The new statement descriptor is comprised of the prefix “MYTRIPBUS*“ and is followed by the operator name. There is a 22 character limit for statement descriptors, which means that the operator name will be shortened if necessary so that the entire descriptor is 22 characters or less.

An example of the new statement descriptor that a customer might see on their bank statement is “MYTRIPBUS* PRENTICE OF” - this would be shown for any purchases of mobile tickets for the operator Prentice of Haddington.

The previous statement descriptor was “MYTRIP”.
