Expanding the availability of dynamic vehicle destinations

To provide more riders with visibility of the destination of a vehicle, we have expanded and enhanced the use of destination information for tracked vehicles.

Available within the vehicle information from the Live Buses view, we have completed a series of improvements to the way we retrieve and manage destination data to offer vehicle destination information for more operators and suppliers.

Additionally, we now have wider support for dynamically updating the vehicle information to the next logical destination on its journey. This is particularly useful on circular journeys to show the next main destination, or when the vehicle passes through multiple well known areas before its final destination.

This ensures three display choices, in descending order.

  • Dynamic destinations

  • Ultimate destination

  • No destinations

For some SIRI-VM providers useful destination data has only been available when retrieving real time vehicle information in ‘incremental mode'. We are pleased to say that we have rolled out incremental mode for all supported suppliers, which has an additional benefit of allowing for more frequent vehicle updates.

The enhancements are available now, but need to be enabled per operator. The quality of this feature is heavily dependent on the data received from SIRI-VM and fallback strategies using data from TXC. For more details and to validate your data prior to enabling this feature, please contact the Help Desk.
