Introducing Departure Boards

We’re pleased to announce that on Thursday, April 18th 2024 we are launching stop departure boards in the myTrip app so that users can see upcoming departures in the app as well as myTrip operator websites.

When viewing a departure board for a stop, users will be able to see upcoming departures using either real time information (RTI) from SIRI-SM, or scheduled information from TransXChange (TXC), dependant on the configuration and data available for each operator.

Users can access departure boards by navigating to Live Buses from the main menu, tapping on a stop they are interested in, and then tapping on ‘Departures’ from the bottom sheet that appears. The departure board will display lines that serve the stop and up to 30 upcoming departures, distinguishing between those based on RTI and those derived from scheduled data. For first time users, an explanation is displayed to help them understand the times.

Each departure can then be tapped, taking the user to a journey view screen showing that journeys stops and times, plus live locations of all vehicles currently running on the chosen route - further helping the user visualise where the bus is relative to the stop they are interested in.

Reviewing network data

With the launch of departure boards, the scheduled network data already uploaded to myTrip will be made visible to users for the first time, which places increased importance on its accuracy and completeness.

Accordingly, from 4th April you will be able to directly check the accuracy and completeness of your published TXC in Passenger Cloud, using new tools that will enable you to:

Passenger Cloud users with the ‘Network Management Agent’ role will have access to these tools. Please contact Help Desk to let us know which users you would like to be able to access these data review tools.

Showing Real Time Information

If an operator has a SIRI-SM feed configured with myTrip, departure boards will display real time information for upcoming visits. We support many different providers of SIRI feeds, please speak to your Customer Success Manager if you have any questions on this.

Key Dates

Departure boards will be rolled out in stages to give operators time to review their data, with the following schedule:

  • Thursday, 4th April 2024: Data review tools released in Passenger Cloud

  • Thursday, 18th April 2024: Departure Boards released in myTrip app

Over the coming weeks your Customer Success Manager will be in touch to guide you through the process of reviewing data, however please do get in touch beforehand if you have any concerns or questions.
